Temperature Check With Shrey

A City Renewables podcast on climate stories, policy, solutions, and hope! We aim to do our tiny part in addressing climate change through media and podcast. The podcast is presented by Shreyansh Budhia, founder of the Nature People Network.

Welcome to our pilot episode of Temp Check with Shrey. Ironically, Shrey's first guest is retired pilot, Jim Bishop, who took a loving for our environment while flying over different parts of the world. He shares with us his experience watching an Alaskan glacier melt over a 16 year span and its impact on local economy. You can hear his passion, you can hear his fear. "Act Now!"

Episode 1: The Lost Alaskan Glacier

Catherine Ward found herself sheltered in place surrounded by the Black Summer bushfires of Australia, stranded on the southern coastline. She lived to tell her story and Shrey knew he had to have that story told on this podcast. Catherine joins Shrey and Bryan for EP 2 of Temp Check with Shrey and brings you a chilling recap of a natural disaster saga made worse by our warming climate. Rain forests burned, an estimated 3 billion animals died and people like Catherine feared and fought for their lives during the Black Summer. Press play and learn Catherine's reality from her own perspective.

Episode 2: I survived the Australian Bushfire

Episode 3: India's Climate Refugee Crisis

Shrey and Bryan welcome Rituraj Phukan, a climate change activist from Assam, India. Raj has witnessed, first hand, complications caused by climate change, growing up through a civil war that was the result of human displacement. He's also visited the poles to learn about our warming waters. Raj is now the National Coordinator for Biodiversity at The Climate Reality Project in India. He is also the Chief Operating Officer at Walk for Water and is Secretary General at the Green Guard Nature Organization. Raj remains optimistic that we'll tackle the greatest risk to humanity. Enjoy!

Episode 4: Declaring a Climate State of Emergency?

Bruce Preville, a retired tech engineer, joins the show to talk about how he helped Santa Clara County declare a State of Emergency against Climate Change. He talks about the advanatages of this but also touches on how legislation can be too slow at times.

Episode 5: When Your Clothes Hurt Your Planet

Shrey speaks with Sam Torres, a young climate activist from California, who changed her fashion choices after learning about the ill effects of our modern day clothes on the environment. In this episode, Sam narrates on the different ways the clothes we wear contribute to climate change, and describes her journey from being an everyday shopper to a more conscious consumer. Her actions are inspiring. Together, we can all make a change!
